President Hamzeh: Lebanon to keep pace with development in the world and sectarian is the mother of malady

AUL celebrated the launching of 241 of its graduates for the academic year 2009-2010 in a marvelous commencement held at the UNESCO Palace.  The ceremony was under the auspices of Mr. Fadi Yarak the General Manager of the Lebanese Ministry of Education. Mr. Yarak represented the President of the Lebanese Republic General Michael Suliaman, The Speaker of the House Mr. Nabih berry and the Prime Minister Shiekh Saad Al Hariri; in the presence of Colorado State Senator Sam AL Zakhem, Dr. Nassar Haidar the famous Scientific researcher of Suffolk University, AUL president Dr. Adnan Hamzeh, Chariman of the Board of Trustees Dr. Mustapha Hamzeh, Political, educational, and cultural figures along with students’ families.

The ceremony started with the Lebanese National Anthem, followed by a welcome word of MS. Fatima Omairat, and then the valedictorian Ms. Naamat Al Hout expressed her gratitude for parents and the academic committee at AUL for their amazing efforts that helped the graduates to make it through.

Dr. Nassar Haidar in his word said: “dear graduates, today is your big day, it is the time that challenges start and you should be up to face and overcome all challenges and obstacles. You need to reach excellence and have the spirit of creativity and innovation always”

The President of AUL Dr. Adnan Hamzeh throughout his speech emphasized upon the importance of keeping pace with the world development which has become a common feature among nations and cultures as an important factor for elevating standards of living in societies.

He added:” we have a mission of peace and love, the same mission that heavenly books stated; our country that the Almighty God chosen her to be the land of Prophets, deserve such an elite of graduates to form a partnership to elevate it to the highest standards among nations worldwide, this is why we chose education as our guide to keep pace with global changes and challenges. Dear Graduates: “O’ people of the upcoming time.””

Dr. Hamzah continued: “dear graduates, you will face difficulties in entering the job market, you will have to confront a new “world” you will be exposed to a dreadful decease called sectarian, sectarianism is the malady, it shall limit your ambitions and lessen your determination, and puts you in the caves of insularity and isolation. I urge you to fight its temptations, regardless of its deceiving appearances. You have to build your judgments on conceptual rules, for your mind shall be your only constitution that invites you to love your fellow man regardless of race, color, language and culture”

The final speech was by Senator Al Zakhem who addressed the audiences and the graduates by his native language, Arabic. He briefed his life experience in the United States, then he recalled the words of the Martyr P.M  Rafik Hariri about common living between Lebanese, saying that Lebanon lives with two wings Muslim and Christian, and can not relinquish any of them, and that Lebanese wherever he travels is proud of his country, finally congratulated the graduates for their success and invited them to cherish the sacrifices of their parents, because the blessing of the parents is the core for success.
